Description
GRADY COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) — The Grady County Sheriff’s Office (GCSO) is advising residents to stay safe on the roads after a driver lost control and drove into a creek on Sunday, Nov. 7.
GCSO said a driver lost control on a wet roadway, left the roadway and the vehicle became fully submerged in a creek. The driver was able to quickly and safely escape the vehicle and was not injured.
GCSO is asking drivers to:
- Slow down — wet roads reduce traction.
- Increase following distance — give yourself more time to react.
- Avoid sudden braking or sharp turns — these can cause skidding.
- Turn on your headlights — improve visibility for yourself and others.
- Watch for standing water — hydroplaning can happen quickly.
- Stay alert and avoid distractions — conditions can change quickly.
