Description

GEORGIA (WALB) - Gov. Brian Kemp will be in South Georgia on Tuesday, April 28, to assess damage from the Pineland Road Fire and meet with the crews battling it on the ground, according to Gov. Kemp’s communications office.

Kemp is scheduled to survey affected areas in Clinch and Echols counties via helicopter, then join state and local officials for a press briefing at the emergency operations center in Manor.

Kemp will be joined by Georgia State Forester and Georgia Forestry Commission Director Johnny Sabo; Georgia Emergency Management and Homeland Security Agency Director Josh Lamb; Georgia National Guard Gen. Dwayne Wilson; and local leaders and emergency management personnel.

The briefing will take place at The Manor School and Community Center, which is serving as the Emergency Operations Center, located at 4650 Manor Millwood Road South in Manor (31550).

The event begins at 11:45 a.m. Viewers can watch it live on NBC and on all WALB platforms.
