ATLANTA, Ga. (WALB) - Just before the upcoming 2024 Presidential election, the Georgia Election Board voted to change how counties count ballots.
The five-person election board voted 3-2 to require counties to hand-count ballots.
According to an article by the Associated Press (AP), the three board members who voted to approve the measure were “praised by former President Donald Trump during a rally last month in Atlanta.”
The article said that this vote went against the advice of the state attorney general’s office, the secretary of state’s office, and an association of county election officials.
The Georgia Election Board started a meeting at the State Capitol in Atlanta at 9 a.m. on Friday to make additional changes to how Georgia conducts elections. Click here to watch the live stream on the board’s YouTube page.
WALB’s Brittanye Blake will speak with Georgia Representative Dexter Sharper and a Georgia voter about this change in our 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. newscasts.
