Description
ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — Georgia Power is suspending all service disconnections through Wednesday, Jan. 28, as an ice storm barrels through the state this weekend.
“As soon as conditions are safe, our teams assess damage and work to provide an Estimated Restoration Time (ERT). This is our best estimate of when your power will be restored and may change as conditions in the field evolve—including new damage, inaccessible roads or changing weather,” the company said in a social media post.
FORECAST: Freezing rain, ice to develop tonight in north Georgia
Normal operations will resume on Thursday, Jan. 29, according to the company.
The impending storm is expected to bring near subfreezing temperatures and knock out power for many Georgia residents.
Georgia Power said it has crews across the state ready to respond to potential damage and restore service for its customers.
If you lose power, they ask you to report it and they’ll alert you when they have an estimated power restoration time. You can check outages using their outage map.
