ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - Gov. Brian Kemp has declared a state of emergency as Georgia braces for severe storms on Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning.
The order gives emergency officials permission to mobilize extra resources and ends at midnight next Tuesday.
In a statement, Kemp urged Georgians to start preparing for the weather now.
“This storm will hit at the worst possible time, as people are heading to or already in bed,” he said. “Before they retire for the evening, I’m urging everyone to be prepared ahead of time and to remain weather aware as long as this system is in the state.”
