ATLANTA, GA (WALB) — Georgia Department of Natural Resources wildlife biologists are asking anyone spending time outdoors this month to help track the state’s wild turkey population.

August is the final month of the state’s 2026 Turkey Poult Observation Survey. Biologists are asking the public to report sightings of hens, lone gobblers or young poults — and to report even if no turkeys are seen at all.

Officials said the sightings help biologists track turkey reproduction and inform management decisions for Georgia’s wild turkey population.

The survey runs through Aug. 31. A link to submit observations is available on the Georgia DNR website.
