ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - Today, Georgia Agriculture Commissioner Tyler Harper released the following statement on the confirmation of Brooke Rollins as U.S. Secretary of Agriculture.

“Congratulations to Brooke Rollins on her confirmation as U.S. Secretary of Agriculture. Secretary Rollins understands farm values and will be a fighter for American agriculture and rural America. I look forward to working with her and President Trump to empower American farmers, level the playing field with our foreign competitors, and Make American Agriculture Great Again.”

Rollins will now lead a department tasked with overseeing nearly all aspects of the nation’s food system. This includes standards on farming practices and livestock rearing, federal subsidies to farmers or agribusinesses and setting nutrition standards for schools and public health officials nationwide.
