FITZGERALD, Ga. (WALB) - The Georgia Bureau of Investigation said the agency is investigating the death of a 29-year-old woman in Fitzgerald that happened early Sunday morning, Jan 25, 2026.

Fitzgerald Police received a 911 call about a shooting in the 100 block of Sullivan Ct. around 2:30 a.m. Sunday morning.

Officers said they arrived to find Shekela Woodard, 29, had been shot and killed.

Police said they learned a party was being held at the home where Woodward died at the time of the shooting.

Fitzgerald Police requested the GBI to investigate Woodard’s death, the agency said.

According to the GBI, no arrests have been made.
