ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - Monique Wilson, Cancer Care Coordinator at Phoebe Cancer Center Boutique shares why helping breast cancer patients isn’t just part of her job, it’s her purpose!

A nine-year breast cancer survivor, Wilson knows the challenges women face after diagnosis. Diagnosed in 2016 with stage one breast cancer, she underwent surgery and radiation and continues treatment as part of her survivorship journey. Now, she uses her experience to bring comfort and confidence to others.

“This boutique is more than a shop—it’s a place of compassion and hope,” Wilson said. “When women leave here, they smile again. They see themselves again.”

Located inside the Phoebe Cancer Center, the boutique offers post-surgery bras, prostheses, wigs, scarves, and other specialty items for women before and after treatment. Many products are covered by insurance, and personalized fittings are provided for every patient.

Throughout Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the boutique will host special sales on October 16 and October 30 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. to raise awareness and make post-mastectomy items more accessible.

Wilson, who has worked at Phoebe for 20 years, is also a Certified Mastectomy Fitter. She and her family—her husband, Fred, and son, Josh, who both work at Phoebe—have made advocacy for breast cancer awareness a family mission.

“My goal is to give women back their confidence and hope,” Wilson said. “When they walk out of here, I want them to feel whole again.”
