Description

ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - Another summer-like day as temperatures climb into the upper 80s and low 90s with muggy conditions expected. A mix of sunshine and cloud cover today with no changes besides a few breezy winds are possible. A warm night in the 60s once again.

Saturday, the transition begins from sunny and dry conditions toward the late weekend severe storms. Temperatures will remain warm in the 80s with muggy air in place. No rain chances on Saturday, but winds are breezy out of the south at 25 mph. No showers and storms are expected through Sunday morning.

By Sunday afternoon, a cold front moves towards the South. A few showers and storms out ahead of this line will be strong to severe. This is why the Storm Prediction Center has placed areas west of I -75 under a Slight Risk (2 out of 5) for severe storms. A First Alert Weather Day has been issued for Sunday afternoon and evening. The main threats are damaging winds and an isolated tornado. Flooding can’t be ruled out.

The severe threat diminishes Monday morning, but showers and storms remain possible as the front slowly moves through. Temperatures will drop into the 60s starting Monday with lows in the 40s by Tuesday morning. A cooler and drier week continues through next weekend.
