LEE COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) – The Lee County Sheriff’s Office has arrested James Cortez Moss, a former Dougherty County Sheriff’s deputy, in connection with multiple child sex crimes.

According to Facebook post from the LCSO, the department’s Special Victims Unit (SVU) is actively investigating the case and is seeking assistance from the public in identifying any additional victims or individuals with relevant information.

Moss faces serious charges related to alleged offenses against children. Authorities are urging any potential victims or witnesses to come forward to aid in the investigation.

“The Lee County Sheriff’s Office strongly encourages anyone with information regarding James Cortez Moss to come forward,” the department stated. “Your voice matters, and your report could help bring justice and prevent further harm.”

Anyone who may have been affected, or who has pertinent information, is asked to contact the Lee County SVU at 229-759-6034.

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office extended its gratitude to the Dougherty County Sheriff’s Office for their cooperation and assistance in the arrest of Moss, who previously served in their department.

Officials emphasize the importance of public awareness and urge the community to share this information to help reach others who may need support.
