LOWNDES COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) - Two South Georgia Winn-Dixie stores are expected to get a new name by the end of the year.

Food Lion announced it has reached an agreement to acquire five Winn-Dixie stores across southern Georgia, including locations in Lake Park and Valdosta.

· 1060 Lakes Blvd. Lake Park, Ga. 31636

· 3200 North Ashley St. Valdosta, Ga. 31602

The company plans to convert and reopen the stores as Food Lion locations in mid-December, pending completion of the transaction and customary closing requirements.

Until the sale is finalized, both stores will remain open as Winn-Dixie.

Food Lion says the new locations will offer fresh produce, quality meats, ready-to-eat meals and everyday essentials at affordable prices. Customers will also have access to grocery pickup and home delivery through the Food Lion To Go website and app.

Food Lion expects to hire approximately 375 employees across the five acquired stores.

The acquisition will bring Food Lion’s total number of Georgia locations to 51. The company says it will also exceed its original 2026 growth goal of opening 10 new stores, reaching 15 new locations by the end of the year.

The other three stores included in the agreement are in Brunswick, Folkston and St. Simons Island.

Food Lion says additional details, including grand opening celebrations for each location, will be announced at a later date.
