Description
ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - The Albany Fire Department (AFD) worked on a fire at an abandoned house in the 1100 block of N. Madison Street on Sunday, Jan. 12.
AFD told WALB that the fire started early Sunday morning at an abandoned two-story house. Over 50 percent of the house was destroyed.
AFD said the fire started in the fireplace. The fireplace vent was closed so it was not venting any of the heat and smoke out so it eventually started a fire in the attic around the brick chimney.
The house was boarded up and was not supposed to be in use.
No one was injured in the fire.
