Description

TIFTON, Ga. (WALB) - The City of Tifton has announced that training has begun at their new burn building training facility.

Firefighter with the Tifton Fire Department began training in the facility on Jan. 13 and 14.

The facility is meant to provide hands-on training to firefighters, providing them with experiences they may face during a structure fire.

“This is a critical training prop that is as realistic as we can get to an actual structure fire.”

The structure features three levels, multiple doors, windows, chimney vents and movable indoor walls. The building was made with recycled shipping containers and is meant to last 1,000 evolutions.

“The number one priority of the Tifton City Council is the safety of its citizens, with a well-trained and well-equipped fire department. The new training facility should have a significant impact on maintaining a low ISO rating for fire protection in Tifton.”

The new training facility is located at the Fire Department’s Training Site on Old Omega Rd.
