WASHINGTON (TNND) — FBI Director Kash Patel took to social media on Saturday to set the record straight that he would not be stepping down from his job amid conspiracies surrounding the Jeffrey Epstein case.
Rumors began swirling on Friday that Patel and FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino were considering quitting their jobs after becoming angry with Attorney General Pam Bondi and the Epstein controversy.
"The conspiracy theories just aren’t true, never have been. It’s an honor to serve the President of the United States @realDonaldTrump — and I’ll continue to do so for as long as he calls on me," Patel wrote on X.
The Department of Justice released a memo last weekend that contradicted Bondi's statement about an Epstein client list being on her desk to review.
The memo concluded that Epstein did not get murdered in prison and died by suicide without a list of his alleged clients.
Speculation about Bongino quitting stemmed from a post on X from right-wing social media influencer Laura Loomer, who said an unnamed source told her it was questionable if Bongino would return to his position.
In a separate post, Loomer later said Bongino is "seriously thinking about RESIGNING" from his role with the FBI due to his frustration with Bondi.
Bongino has yet to confirm whether or not the rumors are true.
