GEORGIA, (WALB) - Peanut farmers say that the lack of rain is causing a stop to peanut growth.
According to the Spearman Agency, there is no chance of rain for the next 10 to 14 days, and the dry conditions are taking a toll on crops.
Spearman recommends growers to dig up any dried peanuts that have permanently wilted but still have a good crop on them.
Meanwhile, irrigated crops are expected to produce strong yields and grades, especially on early-planted acres.
Farmers are encouraged to continue irrigating and managing leaf spots to maintain their current yield potential.
