TYLER, Texas. (KLTV/Gray News) - A day care worker in Texas admitted to assaulting six toddlers in her care more than 130 times over several months, according to authorities.

According to the arrest report, the investigation into Catherine Elizabeth Guziejka began when a coworker at Punkin’ Doodles Day Care in Lindale reviewed surveillance footage.

The document says the woman saw Guziejka on video kicking a 2-year-old boy in the small of his back. The worker reported the incident to the boy’s father, who contacted the Smith County Sheriff’s Office on Oct. 23, 2024.

A deputy began reviewing the footage at the day care, and the arrest reports document numerous incidents of very similar nature. In each, Guziejka delivers a swift kick to the lower back of a 2-year-old child, who then cries out in pain and clutches at the stricken area, the documents say.

According to an arrest affidavit, Guziejka was caught in security footage kicking toddlers in her care in over 100 incidents dating back to July 2024.

Guziejka was charged with six counts of injury to a child with intentional bodily injury.

A jury trial was originally set to start Tuesday. Guziejka’s attorney Matt Bingham is asking the court for a 10-year sentence for each charge, to be served at the same time.

The defense also asked for a pre-sentence investigation because it is used by Texas Department of Criminal Justice authorities during the classification process once she arrives at prison.
