REMERTON, Ga. (WALB) - Emergency crews responded to an apartment fire on Green Street on Sunday at around 12:30 p.m.

According to a Facebook post shared by the Remerton Fire Department (RFD), crews arrived on the scene to tackle the blaze with support from the Valdosta Fire Department, SGMC EMS, and the Remerton Police Department. Their coordinated response helped bring the situation under control quickly and safely.

RFD Chief Horne tells WALB that there were no injuries and the fire was caused by an improperly discarded cigarette.
