Description
WILCOX COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) - The Wilcox County Sheriff’s Office says a suspicious activity call led deputies to uncover contraband bundles, a drone and dozens of electronic devices during an investigation earlier this month.
According to the sheriff’s office, deputies were alerted to suspicious activity on Owensboro Road on May 14, 2026. When deputies arrived, they discovered three large wrapped bundles and a drone hidden in the wood line. Authorities then set up surveillance in the area.

A short time later, deputies were notified about a black SUV parked along the highway nearby. Officials say as deputies approached, a suspect fled from the area where the bundles and drone had been found and got into the SUV.
The suspect then led deputies on a brief chase into Rochelle before being taken into custody with help from the Rochelle Police Department and the Georgia Department of Corrections K-9 unit. Authorities also recovered a Glock 9mm pistol from the vehicle.

Investigators say the bundles contained:
- 59.8 pounds of tobacco
- 19.3 pounds of THC products
- 47 lighters
- 58 earbuds
- 49 charging cables
- 25 charging blocks
- One PlayStation controller
- 42 cell phones
- Two iPads
- 38 AT&T SIM cards
- A soldering iron
- A lock and keys
- Two phone cases
The sheriff’s office has not yet released the suspect’s identity or possible charges connected to the case. The investigation remains ongoing.
