COFFEE COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) – The Coffee County Sheriff’s Office has charged Demaurio Sutton, 42, of Douglas, in connection with an ongoing theft investigation.
According to the release from CCSO, on August 15, 2025, around 10:40 p.m., deputies responded to a reported theft at a property in Coffee County. The property included a residence that had sustained severe damage during Hurricane Helene, along with an adjacent shelter.
Deputies learned that the property had been unlawfully entered, and several items were stolen, including a game camera mounted inside the shelter. Property owners also reported an attempt to remove a safe from inside the damaged residence.
Following an investigation, Sutton was identified as the suspect and has been formally charged with theft by taking (OCGA 16-8-2).
