Description
ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - The Salvation Army of Albany said their donations are down this holiday season even as the need for assistance grows.
The Salvation Army’s Red Kettle campaign is their primary annual fundraiser, the organization said. This year, they say they are behind their goal.
“The 2025 bell-ringing season has faced unique challenges as our community continues to recover from economic impacts,” said Captain Chris Powell of The Salvation Army. “As we move forward, we are seeing an increased need from those affected by increased pricing of rent and groceries, as well as the effects of disasters and job losses. Currently, the Red Kettle Campaign is falling significantly short of our goal of $76,000. We have raised $29,831 so far and are praying the community will dig deep in the remaining days of the season to ensure we can continue to provide essential assistance to those in need.”
There is still time to give back to those in need. The organization said the campaign will continue through Christmas Eve outside of stores across Albany.
Officials say volunteers are crucial to the success of the campaign. To learn more about volunteering opportunities, visit RegisterToRing.com.
