Governor DeWine announced the decision at a press conference Friday afternoon, which you can watch in the player below.
The move may come as a surprise to some Republicans who figured former presidential contender Vivek Ramaswamy might get the nod.
Signal Cleveland's Andrew Tobias reported that four sources confirmed the news to Signal Cleveland.
Also among the first to report the news, Politico described Husted as an "institutionalist" in DeWine's mold. Husted has served as the lieutenant governor since 2019 after serving as the secretary of state.
Vice President-elect Vance will be sworn in during Monday's inauguration.
