ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - Search efforts have been suspended for the day for a man who officials say jumped into the Flint River Saturday, May 10, when they approached the boat for a license check.
Right now, there are still many unanswered questions: What’s the name of the person that jumped into the water? Why exactly did he jump? How is weather impacting search efforts to find this missing man?
Officials said the man jumped into the Flint River at the Muckafoonee Creek.
According to the Department of Natural Resources, Albany Fire Rescue resumed search efforts earlier this morning near the Radium Springs Landing Park. WALB crews, who were on-scene, saw a rescue boat exit the water at Radium Springs around 1:45 p.m.
Officials said they were out conducting boat license checks on Saturday when the man jumped into the murky waters and did not resurface.
Following recent rain to the area, the Flint River is swollen.
The median value of the river is 4.91 feet. Current observations put the river at a little over six feet. Estimates say the river could reach nearly 11 feet by Thursday, May 15.
