CUTHBERT, Ga. (WALB) – A local business and members of the community are stepping up in a powerful show of support for a grieving father facing unimaginable loss.
Blissful Batters organized a fundraiser to benefit James Spann, whose wife and two children were killed in a wrong-way DUI crash in Lee County. His wife, Bernedine Spann, and their children, Ja’Leah and Jaxton Spann, died in the tragic accident.

The fundraiser brought the community together, with all proceeds from the day donated directly to Spann. A check was presented to him as a symbol of the overwhelming support from friends, neighbors, and even strangers.
The owners of Blissful Batters say they were grateful their business could serve as a vessel to give back during such a heartbreaking time.

“Here at Blissful Batters, we want the family to know they are not alone,” the owners said. “All the money we make today will be donated to the family.”
Additional support is also coming from the motorcycle community. The Punishers LEMC Flint River Chapter is organizing a charity event called the “Dice Ride for the Spann Family.”
The ride will take place Friday, March 7, beginning at Shellman Depot. Registration starts at 10 a.m., and the ride begins at 11 a.m.

Participants will travel through Cuthbert, Fort Gaines, Edison, and Morgan before returning to Shellman Depot. Registration is $20 per bike and $5 per passenger.
Organizers say the outpouring of support is a powerful reminder of what community truly means, standing together in times of tragedy.
