Description
CRISP COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) - The Crisp County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) is warning the public of a recent scam.
According to the sheriff’s office, citizens have reported unsolicited phone calls from individuals claiming to be employees of CCSO. These callers reportedly are stating that there is a warrant out for failure to appear in court, and sometimes the calls even display as the CCSO phone number. These scammers are demanding monetary payments or threatening arrest warrants.
The sheriff’s office says they will never call to ask for payment over the phone. They will also not inform individuals of arrest warrants in this manner.
It is important to never share personal information such as your social security number or financial card information over the phone.
