MACON, Ga. (WGXA) — The family of a woman found dead in a trashcan last Thursday in Macon says they are still waiting for answers.

42-year-old Teasha Colbert was discovered around 8 a.m. Thursday at the Sanford Arms Apartments after police responded to a missing person call. The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office said at the scene they are investigating her death as a homicide.

Colbert’s sisters say they have not received updates from investigators since that day.

“Bibb County law enforcement has a tough job. Unfortunately, we’re at a time where they have a lot of active cases. But I am growing concerned — borderline frustrated — because no suspect has been released, no photo,” one sister told WGXA.

Sandy Colbert said the only follow-up communication she received from deputies was a brief message. “Well, basically, they’re working on it,” she recalled being told.

The lack of updates has left the family on edge. “If he’ll kill her, who’s to say he won’t kill us too?” one sister said. Despite the frustration, the family vows to keep fighting for justice in Colbert’s case.

“She will get justice, and I will see to it personally. It’s everything to me. I owe it to her, I owe it to her parents, and I’m going to make sure it gets done,” her sister said.

Loved ones describe Colbert as bubbly, loving, and kind. “She was a good person. She really was a good, kind person. She never wanted to hurt anybody, you know what I mean? Just sweet and kind.”

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office told WGXA there are currently no new leads in the investigation.
