DOUGLAS, Ga. (WALB) - A Douglas man who was wanted in several counties is currently in custody.

According to a release from the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO), Keil Travis Pittman, 40, of Douglas, was arrested on March 28 after deputies identified him as the driver of a 2020 GMC Terrain headed north on Highway 135.

Officials say he was wanted in several counties for various offenses including three bench warrants in Coffee County.

After Pittman was detained, a search of the vehicle revealed two handguns, which were seized as evidence.

“Per Georgia law 16-11-131(b), individuals who were on probation as felony first offenders or have been convicted of a felony in Georgia or elsewhere in the United States are prohibited from receiving, possessing, or transporting firearms.”

Additionally, Pittman was charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and driving with a suspended and revoked license, according to CCSO.

Pittman was denied bond and is scheduled to make his first court appearance on Tuesday, April 15.
