ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - The city of Albany’s Hard Hat Bus Tour starts March 14 at 8 a.m. and will showcase key sites that represent the future of Downtown Albany.

In the next few months, there will be one less empty storefront in downtown Albany as the Albany Museum of Art relocates to the old Belk Building.

The executive director Andy Wulf said this move isn’t just for the museum, it’s about supporting the vision of downtown revitalization.

“It will bring, over the course of construction, over 150 new jobs and there are wonderful substantive impacts that the arrival of the museum will support,” Wulf said.

The museum’s groundbreaking is expected to be held later this year, and they’re excited to contribute to the historic heartbeat of the city.

“The arrival of the museum, along with many other investors in terms of hotels and other businesses, will really help catalyze the revitalization of the downtown area. We all know that the bones of downtown are wonderful. We need new life down there,” Wulf said.

Here are some things local LaBrelle Tumblin wants to see.

“We need more food. People in Albany love food, they love clothes so even a clothing spot would be great,” Tumblin said.
