CAIRO, Ga. (WALB) - The city of Cairo provided an update on the construction on South Broad Street.

According to the city, crews are preparing the road base with heavy equipment and active soil work. This may cause delays.

Residential access is being maintained, but you may need to wait for equipment to move.

Windstream and Mediacom services are being transferred to new utility poles, so their customers may experience brief outages during this process.

Please avoid the area if possible and use caution when driving around construction equipment.
