ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) — Police in Albany are investigating after a man and woman were shot near a liquor store on Old Dawson Road.

On Sunday, Sept. 20, around 1 a.m., officers went out to the 2800 block of Old Dawson Road to respond to a reported shooting. When they got there, they found six 9mm shell casings in the road. The officers took pictures of the area and collected the shell casings.

The report from the Albany Police Department notes that Light House Liquor was hit by bullets.

Officers talked to the victim, a 23-year-old woman, at the hospital. She reportedly told police she didn’t know where the shots came from. Police say a 24-year-old man was also shot during the incident. They both have injuries that are considered non-life-threatening.

WALB spoke with the victim Monday afternoon. She says she does not know the two men who were arrested and has no idea where or why the shooting happened.

The victim says she was out at Club 809 Bar and Grill when she left the bar with her cousin to go change shoes at her car, which was parked at the liquor store across the street. That’s when she was hit by gunfire.

The victim says she was hit in the buttocks and has received treatment, but is still having some trouble walking. She’s expected to recover from her injuries.

Officers checked the area for cameras, but weren’t able to find any, according to the incident report.

Police officials say they believe the shooting was gang-related.
