Description
DAHLONEGA, Ga. - A Dalton college student who was placed in an ICE detention facility after being wrongfully pulled over was granted bond on Wednesday.
Ximena Arias-Cristobal, 19, was given a $1,500 bond Wednesday afternoon.
Her family told Atlanta News First they hope to have her back home on Thursday.
Arias-Cristobal has been in the Stewart Detention Center in Lumpkin since she was pulled over and charged by mistake on May 5.
She was accused of making an improper turn and driving without a valid driver’s license. The city later dropped those charges, saying that the arresting officer’s dashcam video shows he stopped the wrong car.
Because Arias-Cristobal is undocumented, despite being in the country since she was 4, she remains at the ICE facility.
