PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. (CBS12) — The arrest report was released, detailing the inappropriate teacher-student relationship at a middle school in Palm Beach Gardens.

A former seventh-grade math teacher at Watson B. Duncan Middle School, Christopher Withers, 32, has been arrested for lewd and lascivious battery and the use of a child in a sexual performance, following an investigation by the Palm Beach Gardens Police Department (PBGPD).

The case emerged when the Palm Beach School District Police alerted PBGPD about allegations of an inappropriate sexual relationship between Withers and an underaged student. Police said the investigation began on March 25, when the victim, a minor, provided a sworn statement to police detailing her relationship with Withers, which began when she was in seventh grade.

The victim told detectives that Withers initially took on a mentor role after her father's death, but the relationship soon turned sexual. She was 14 years old at the time. She described how Withers communicated with her via Snapchat, discussing the sexual nature of their relationship.

Police said that Withers even took the victim and her mother out to lunch so he could explain his desire to be involved in her life. The relationship escalated when the victim started high school, with Withers kissing her and engaging in sexual activities in his classroom. Their interactions continued for almost once a week for nearly two years.

The victim told investigators that when she began her sophomore year of high school, and they stopped having sex due to them growing apart in their relationship.

The victim recounted multiple instances of sexual encounters with Withers, often taking place in Withers' apartment and a nature park in Jupiter Farms, according to the arrest report. She also mentioned that she believed that Withers recorded a video of them on Snapchat and saved it to his "my eyes only" album.

On March 26, the victim went to the police department to conduct a controlled phone call with Withers, during which he admitted to their sexual relationship and expressed remorse, according to the arrest report. This call was recorded on body cam and used as evidence.

The victim asked Withers to explain what they had, prompting him to respond, "In my opinion, we had a beautiful relationship that I ruined. You showed me sides of myself that I didn't know existed. You showed me that I didn't know existed. You made me feel things that I didn't know I could feel. And I know that all of that is overshadowed by terrible, terrible things that I did."

The arrest report said Withers went on to say, "To me, I will always love you. A part of me will always love you."

On March 31, Withers was interviewed by the police and initially denied having sex with the underaged victim. However, after being left alone in the interview room, he requested to speak with the officers again and confessed to having sex with the victim around 10 to 15 times.

Withers alleged to investigators that, at that time, they were both going through trauma from a loss; the victim lost her father, and Withers broke up with his longtime girlfriend.

Withers faces lewd and lascivious battery for engaging in sexual activity with a minor aged 12-16, and use of a child in a sexual performance for recording a video of the victim engaging in sexual acts. His bond was set at $260,000, and he was ordered to have no contact with the victim or the Palm Beach County School Board and property.

In court, he was ordered to house arrest with a PBSO monitor on release from jail.
