ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) – Albany Technical College is celebrating Medical Assistants Recognition Week from October 20-24, 2025, honoring medical assistants nationwide as designated by the American Association of Medical Assistants® (AAMA). Special recognition will also be given on Medical Assistants Recognition Day, October 22.

The ATC Medical Assisting program has planned several events to mark the occasion:

• “Donuts & Detection” Breast Cancer & Testicular Cancer Awareness Date: October 20, 2025 Time: 10am - 12:00 pm Location: LEC
• Weigh to Wellness” Health Screenings and Medical Assistant Profession Awareness Date: October 22, 2025 Time: 9:30am- 12:00 pm Location: LEC
• “Visit a Medical Assistant” Honoring and recognizing graduates of ATC Medical Assisting program at their places of employment! Date: October 22, 2025

Medical assistants play a vital role in healthcare, performing both administrative and clinical duties as part of the health care delivery team. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, medical assisting is one of the fastest-growing allied health careers in the country.

The AAMA serves as the only organization exclusively supporting the professional and educational needs of medical assistants, providing resources to help them thrive in their careers.
