VIDALIA, Ga. (WGXA) — One man is in critical condition following an officer involved shooting.
According to a report by Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI), the Vidalia Police Department has requested the GBI's assistance in investigating a traffic stop that left one man in critical condition.
Two Vidalia police officers attempted to pull over 47-year-old Travis Kelly Parrish of Lyons, Ga. at the intersection of MLK Jr. Boulevard and Epstein Street on Sunday, Oct. 19, 2025 around 1:30 in the afternoon. Once they pulled him over, they learned that Parrish had an outstanding warrant for his arrest.

According to the report, officers tried to arrest Parrish and one of the officers deployed a taser and then shot at Parrish and hit him.
Parrish was taken to a local hospital and is in currently in critical condition. No officers were injured during the incident.
Once the investigation is completed, the case will be turned over to the Middle Judicial Circuit District Attorney's Office for review.
