ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - A murder suspect, who had been on the run since July 2025, was arrested in Albany on December 1, 2025.

According to the Albany Police Department (APD), Kayveon Lyles, 20, was one of three suspects in the July 2025 murder of Jamarion King. King was shot and killed at the intersection of Bay Street and West Highland Avenue. The other two suspects, Markelvin Hicks and Jaquan McIntyre were previously arrested.

According to APD, over the past several weeks police say they received multiple tips that led them to the 1300 block of Mercantile Drive. During the multi-agency search warrant operation, investigators arrested Lyles and recovered over one hundred grams of marijuana, schedule two drugs, and eight firearms (three of which were stolen).

Lyles faces charges of :

• Murder
• Aggravated Assault with a Firearm
• Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of Certain Crimes
• Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute
• Possession of a Dangerous Weapon
• Possession of Drug Related Objects
• Possession of a Stolen Firearm.

During the same search operation, several others were also arrested.

• Diamond Redding (17)

• Tyree Cooper (26)

They were charged with Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of Certain Crimes, Possession of a Dangerous Weapon, Possession of Drug Related Objects, Possession of a Schedule 2 Drug [Kim Brown], Possession of a Stolen Firearm (3-counts), and Hindering the Apprehension of a Criminal.

Albany police say more arrests are pending, and they encourage those who may want to make an anonymous tip to contact APD at 229-431-2100 or through their app.
