ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - Grab a coat before you head to celebrate the New Year! A cold front sweeps through tonight to set up a chilly, dry, and clear start to a new year. Temperatures will drop into the upper 30s and low 40s for New Year’s morning with highs in the 50s and 60s by the afternoon. Plenty of sunshine on tap for the day.
The effects of the cold front will be felt on Thursday morning as lows drop into the cold 30s. The rest of Thursday is cool and clear with highs in the 50s. A new cold front arrives on Friday to reinforce the cold, dry air already in place. There are very low chances of rain with this frontal passage. Colder temperatures arrive on the heels of the front by Saturday with highs in the low 50s and lows in the freezing 20s.
We warm slightly on Sunday ahead of another cold front on Monday. This front could feature the first rainfall of 2025. A new cold blast could arrive within the next few days into January.
