PINE MOUNTAIN, Ga. (WTVM) - This family-owned restaurant continues to shine with outstanding health inspection results!

Dakota’s Counter, a mom-and-pop restaurant located on 111 Broad Street in Pine Mountain has scored another 100 on a health inspection. The restaurant opened in September of 2023 and continues to score 100 on each inspection. Manager Julie Porter says it’s a great feeling knowing she and the staff continue to uphold a certain standard.

" We’re proud of having a great health score. We like to take care of the community. We wanna keep everything safe and clean and it’s just part of who we are,” said Julie.

Dakota’s Counter is named after Dakota Porter the 18-year-old cook and son of Julie and owner, Dean Porter. Dakota was born 3 months premature at 2lbs, 3oz. Dean says that didn’t stop his son from recognizing his culinary talent at 12.

" The fact that he’s kind of taking the passion that I love which is cooking and I don’t know if he’ll do this for a career, but it’s something that he enjoys doing anytime you can offer your child a life skill that’s gonna take them in for you know the rest of their lives. It’s very rewarding,” said Dean.

Dakota says his favorite meal to cook is the Smash Burger meal. He says cooking is a way for him to just express himself.

" It’s very therapeutic, it’s a good way to know if you’re having a bad day and just cook you feel better. I’m proud of everything. We’ve been able to accomplish especially keeping this place clean and healthy. It’s a very very proud feeling,” said Dakota.

Dakota’s Counter hours of operation are as follows:

Tuesday - Saturday: 11 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Sunday: 12 p.m.- 3 p.m.
