The memorial is approximately fifty feet long and was organized by a man from Miami, Florida, who sought to help remember the victims.
On Thursday, dozens of people stopped to leave flowers and messages.
“For us those are lives. They’re not people in a magazine. Our city will never get over this,” said Terry Nixon of Kerrville. “Everything’s different now. Lives have been lost. Children have died. Hearts are crushed, broken.”
Family and friends of the victims stopped by the memorial, too.
“He was a very kind young man. He was a believer,” said Donna Bright, who knew Julian Ryan, a victim. “We’re very saddened but at least we know where he is, and he died a very heroic death.”
A vigil is planned at the site of the memorial for 7 p.m. on Friday at 615 Water Street in Kerrville.
