ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - A run-of-the-mill traffic stop led to a man being arrested for cocaine possession in Morgan County this week, according to the sheriff’s office.
On Tuesday, deputies stopped a Fulton County resident for tailgating on I-20. The driver tried to destroy his phone, causing a fire on the passenger floorboard, according to the sheriff’s office.
During the interaction, deputies noticed a THC vape, leading to a search of the vehicle. Nearly 12 pounds of cocaine were hidden in the trunk, the sheriff’s office said.
“Our deputies are trained, vigilant, and prepared,” deputies said in a statement. “Bring drugs into this county, and you’ll find out your journey will end in the Morgan County Jail.”
The suspect has not been identified.
