ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) — Michael Persely, Albany’s current Police Chief, is set to retire, according to the city of Albany.

City officials say they will soon begin hiring a new Chief and are asking Albany residents to complete a survey about what the next Chief should focus on.

“From Friday, September 4, 2026, through Sunday, October 4, 2026, you can complete a survey to tell us what issues matter most to you.”

The survey is 11 questions, and you can fill it out here.
