SPARKS, Ga. (WALB) - City officials in Sparks are seeking community volunteers to help operate a warming facility this weekend.

The Cook County Fire Department and Emergency Management Agency said the facility will operate from 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 31, until 8 a.m. Monday, Feb. 2, to provide safe, warm shelter for those who need assistance.

Officials said volunteers must be over 18 years old and will be responsible for assisting with facility setup, monitoring guests, distributing supplies and ensuring a safe and orderly environment. No prior experience is required.

Instructions and safety guidelines will be provided to volunteers, officials said.
