ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) — Spring means Georgia peanut farmers are closer than ever to getting this year’s crops in the ground.

But the work never ends for the state’s $2-billion-dollar-per-year commodity.

“Georgia’s actually the largest peanut producer in the United States growing over 50 percent of the peanuts. And so this last year, in 2025, we actually had a record amount of acres planted since World War II in the fact that we grew over 900,000 acres of peanuts,” Taylor Arnold, Executive Director of the Georgia Peanut Commission, said.

Georgia Peanut Commission invests time year-round advocating on behalf of the state’s peanut farmers.

The member-funded organization also strives to present peanut farmers with best practices through scientific research discoveries.
