SENATOBIA, Miss. (WMC/Gray News) - Video has been obtained showing the moments leading up to a shooting involving Senatobia police that killed a 1-year-old child in June.
Darkhorse Press released the video days after Mississippi Attorney General Lynn Fitch’s office determined the officers’ actions that day were justified.
The footage included five videos: three body-camera videos from Senatobia officers and two surveillance videos from Walmart.

On June 14, Senatobia police responded to an alleged shoplifting involving diapers at an area Walmart involving two women.
One-year-old Kohen Wiley was inside a car with his mother, who was holding him, and his great-aunt, who was driving when the shooting occurred.
One of the released videos from that day shows the store’s security guard talking to the child’s mother, Vellesiya Wiley, and his great-aunt.
Moments later, video showed the child, identified as Kohen Wiley, being held by his mother while they were running to the car.
Kohen’s mother gets in the passenger seat of the vehicle with him, while the other woman jumps into the driver’s seat.
Another video showed law enforcement officers in the store’s loss prevention office being interrupted by a store employee saying, “Two women are running.”
Moments later, video showed law enforcement officers running after Vellesiya Wiley and the other woman as both got into the car.
Officers were then seen in front of the car as the driver backed out of the parking spot, telling the driver to stop with guns drawn.
However, the driver appears to then drive toward officers, hitting one and crossing into the next parking lot aisle, striking a parked vehicle, prompting police to shoot.
It was unclear from the videos provided which officers fired their weapons. One-year-old Kohen Wiley did not survive the shooting.

Body-camera video from the officer who was hit by the vehicle was not part of the videos released.
In the final body-camera video that was released, officers were outside of an emergency medical center, where one can be heard saying, “I didn’t even see a f—ing baby in her lap.”
“Nobody knew the baby was there,” another officer said. “All I saw was two females in the car.”
The footage appears to contradict parts of Vellesiya Wiley’s previous account.
In a June 17 video statement released through attorneys Ben Crump and Van Turner, Vellesiya Wiley said she continued walking “because it had nothing to do with me” after officers stopped her friend, and said her friend drove toward the other side of the lot, away from officers.
Vellesiya Wiley also previously said she had lifted Kohen up “trying to show them that he was in the car” after seeing officers draw their guns.
According to the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation, it has assigned five agents to the case, with investigators reviewing witness statements, body- and dash-camera video and Walmart surveillance video.
The officer who fired was placed on administrative leave, which city leaders said was standard practice after deadly police shootings.
In July, Kohen Wiley’s cause of death was ruled a homicide, according to an independent autopsy report requested by the family.
Van Turner, along with civil rights attorney Ben Crump, is representing the Wiley family. They have renewed calls for MBI and Walmart to release all surveillance video from the incident.
WMC has reached out to the Mississippi Department of Public Safety about the released videos through Darkhorse Press and whether there were plans to release the videos independently.
DPS said it still plans to sit down with the Wiley family this week and then release it.
Family attorneys were aware of the video and plan to meet with the family Thursday to review the video themselves.
