Description
RANDOLPH COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) - New details have been released after a school bus accident in the Benevolence area Wednesday morning.
According to authorities, Troop G Communications dispatched troopers and CVE officers to the crash around 6:56 a.m. on County Road 102, a dirt road. Officials say the bus was traveling west when it slid on the wet and slick roadway caused by recent rainfall.

Investigators say the bus traveled into the south ditch. As the driver attempted to drive through the mud, the bus rotated clockwise and overturned onto its left side.
There were 20 people on board, including 18 children. Authorities say five people suffered non-life-threatening injuries and complained of pain. The children were transported to different locations for treatment.

The Randolph County School District previously said parents would be notified directly if their child was on the bus.
