ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) — [UPDATE Feb. 18 at 5:50 p.m.] According to a release from the Albany Police Department, officers learned that the victim had been shot by his girlfriend’s brother, Davaion James Leroy.
According to preliminary investigation, the incident began when Leroy arrived in Albany from Warner Robins early this morning via a ride with Michael Gray (44). Shortly after arriving in the city, Leroy visited his sister’s residence, where a family altercation erupted.
During the confrontation, Leroy opened fire, striking his sister’s boyfriend. The victim was transported to Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital for medical treatment.
Following the shooting, Michael Gray, who witnessed the incident, aided Leroy in escaping the scene by transporting him to another location. Gray then attempted to return to Warner Robins.
Worth County Sheriff’s Office located and stopped Gray’s vehicle before it could leave the area. All three occupants of the vehicle were transported back to Albany for questioning, and multiple witnesses were interviewed as part of the investigation.
Michael Gray was arrested and charged with Hindering Apprehension or Punishment of a Criminal.
Leroy currently has active warrants for the following charges:
- Aggravated Assault (Firearm)
- Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon
- Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of Certain Crimes
The Albany Police Department continues to investigate the incident. Anyone with additional information is urged to contact local authorities.
[ORIGINAL ARTICLE] Albany Police Department requested the public’s help Wednesday, Feb. 18, in finding a man wanted for aggravated assault following a shooting at an apartment complex.
Police identified the suspect as Davaion James Leroy. Officials said Leroy reportedly shot another man during an argument around 10:22 a.m. Wednesday. It reportedly happened at the Village Apartments in the 2500 block of Nottingham Way.

Police said Leroy is considered armed and dangerous.
Leroy is 5′6″ and weighs 105 pounds, APD said. His last known address is in the 1100 block of Blaylock Street in Albany.
