WASHINGTON (TNND) — President Donald Trump, former President Barack Obama and other political leaders have been reaching out to former President Joe Biden since it was announced on Sunday that he was diagnosed with an “aggressive form” of prostate cancer.

“Last week, President Joe Biden was seen for a new finding of a prostate nodule after experiencing increasing urinary symptoms. On Friday, he was diagnosed with prostate cancer, characterized by a Gleason score of 9 (Grade Group 5) with metastasis to the bone,” a statement released from his personal office read.

“While this represents a more aggressive form of the disease, the cancer appears to be hormone-sensitive which allows for effective management,” it continued. The Biden family said they are "reviewing treatment options with his physicians."

Biden, 82, thanked everyone for the "love and support" on Monday morning alongside a photo of him and Jill with their cat.

"Cancer touches us all. Like so many of you, Jill and I have learned that we are strongest in the broken place," the former president wrote on X. "Thank you for lifting us up with love and support."

Obama wrote on X Sunday evening that he is certain Biden "will fight this challenge with his trademark resolve and grace."

"Michelle and I are thinking of the entire Biden family. Nobody has done more to find breakthrough treatments for cancer in all its forms than Joe," he said. "We pray for a fast and full recovery."

President Trump took to Truth Social to wish Biden a "fast and successful recovery."

"Melania and I are saddened to hear about Joe Biden’s recent medical diagnosis. We extend our warmest and best wishes to Jill and the family."

Former Vice President Kamala Harris also posted to X on Sunday, saying she and her husband are keeping the Biden family in their prayers.

"Joe is a fighter — and I know he will face this challenge with the same strength, resilience, and optimism that have always defined his life and leadership," she wrote. "We are hopeful for a full and speedy recovery."

Her husband, Doug Emhoff, the former second gentleman, posted his regards in a separate post.

The Clinton family also shared their regards on social media.

"I’m thinking of the Bidens as they take on cancer, a disease they’ve done so much to try to spare other families from. Wishing you a speedy, full recovery," Former State Secretary Hillary Clinton said.

Former President Bill Clinton called Biden a friend and said he has "always been a fighter."

Hillary and I are rooting for him and are keeping him, Jill, and the entire family in our thoughts," he wrote on X.

Biden's health was a dominant concern among voters during his time as president. In June, while seeking reelection, Biden abandoned his bid for a second term and Harris became the nominee but lost to Trump.

In 2022, Biden made a “cancer moonshot” one of his administration's priorities with the goal of halving the cancer death rate over the next 25 years. The initiative was a continuation of his work as vice president to address a disease that had killed his older son, Beau, who died from brain cancer in 2015.
