TIFTON, Ga. (WALB) — The Tifton Police Department says fake movie prop money is believed to be circulating in Tifton.
According to the department, the counterfeit bills are expected to appear primarily as $20, $50, and $100 denominations. While the bills may look authentic at first glance, they contain a large disclaimer that reads, “For Motion Picture Use Only.”
TPD encourages residents and businesses to carefully inspect all cash payments. If someone receives a fake bill, the department asks them to get an accurate description of the person who passed it and contact law enforcement.
The department also advises residents not to attempt to detain or confront the individual.
