Description

ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - Southwest Georgia is getting national recognition through one of its own.

Albany native Kenneth Cutts, chief of staff for longtime U.S. Rep. Sanford Bishop has been named one of the Top 10 chiefs of staff for members of Congress, according to an award announcement recognizing leadership among congressional staff.

The recognition highlights Cutts’ long tenure with Bishop’s office. Nominators said Cutts has been with the congressman longer than anyone else on his staff and credited him with deep knowledge of the district and a management style that empowers staff to lead their issue areas while supporting them when it counts. They also described him as someone who values people over ego and doesn’t rely on status to make his point.

Cutts has a documented history of involvement in Southwest Georgia beyond Washington. In a 2003 press release from Bishop’s office, Cutts was recognized by Georgia Trend magazine as one of the state’s “40 Under 40” honorees while serving as a district director for the congressman. That release also cited community service and board involvement in Albany, including work with the Boys and Girls Club of Albany, the Albany Civil Rights Museum, and the Faith Community Outreach Center, along with regional organizations such as the American Red Cross and Easter Seals.

Bishop’s office has not yet released additional details about the latest Top 10 recognition, but supporters say the honor reflects Cutts’ longstanding role helping connect constituents across the district with federal resources and services.

Cutts is the chief of staff for Bishop, who represents Georgia’s 2nd Congressional District, which includes parts of Southwest and Middle Georgia.
