DAWSON, Ga. — The Terrell Academy Lady Eagles received their GIAA Class 3A state basketball championship rings following the team’s title win over Lakeview in Columbus.

Ring ceremony marks end of championship run

The ceremony brought players, families and fans together to mark the conclusion of the team’s season, which ended with the Lady Eagles winning the Class 3A basketball title.

Head Coach Eric Israel said the championship carried personal significance.

“It really just means everything. I personally just wanted it so bad for our team, and they worked so hard for it. I just can’t tell you how proud I am of every one of them. Everyone knew their role on the team, and just a great group of girls to coach. They make my job easy,” Israel said.

Community support followed team to Columbus

Israel said the Lady Eagles’ run extended beyond the roster, with fans traveling to Columbus for the championship game.

“It means everything, and that just says everything you need to know about Terrell Academy. It felt so good being over there on the bench and just having that sea of blue and white behind you. And I could feel it, our players could feel it, and they fed off of it. There’s no doubt about it,” Israel said.

The rings serve as a lasting reminder of the Lady Eagles’ Class 3A title run, which drew community support from Dawson to Columbus.
