GRADY COUNTY, Ga. (WCTV) - The Syrupmakers honored one of their own Friday night.
Joe Ward passed away last Thursday and was well-known in Grady County. He dedicated his high energy, brilliance and life to sports.
Joe showed his passion for basketball and football through coaching and as a stats keeper for nearly four decades.

At the football game on Friday, the community acknowledged Joe as an honorary captain and held a moment of silence.
The players’ helmets donned his initials, “J.W.,” and cowbells were given to the first 100 fans through the gate, which also featured his initials.
